In the first ten days, Apple’s latest flagship iPhone series outsold its predecessors in China and the US by 14%, according to analysts at Counterpoint Research. The base model – a clear favorite among Chinese buyers – is leading the surge. Even Apple reportedly hadn’t anticipated such strong demand, prompting the company to ramp up iPhone 17 production sooner than planned.

According to Counterpoint’s data, sales of the base iPhone 17 model were up 31% compared to the previous generation, while the Pro models saw a 12% increase. There’s no Plus version this year, and the Air only recently went on sale in China – yet it sold out almost immediately.

Riding this wave of success, Apple’s stock price climbed to a new all-time high of $263 per share. And that’s despite the continuing issues with Siri, which still struggles to impress. Progress on the updated voice assistant appears to be moving so slowly that its release could be postponed once again.
